چکیده
Introduction: Conversion chemotherapy may downsize unresectable colorectal liver metastases (CRLMs), but cause injury and splenic enlargement. The effect of preoperative on regeneration after resection remains undetermined. aim this study was to examine whether enlargement induced by is an indicator identify high-risk patients for impaired dysfunction resection. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 118 Japanese with CRLMs. Fifty one had conversion chemotherapy. other 67 underwent upfront clarified effects volume, function, postoperative regeneration. Perioperative outcome also analyzed. Results: A ratio the volume before (SP index) in oxaliplatin-based group significantly greater than groups 9 or more cycles. Patients whose SP index 1.2 higher indocyanine green retention rate at 15 min (ICG-R15) without Analyses covariance showed decreased more. incidence Multivariate analysis a significant predictive factor Conclusion: Splenic useful evaluation decision-making tool treatment strategy

Resection after preoperative chemotherapy versus synchronous liver resection of colorectal cancer liver metastases
This study aimed to determine the prognostic effects of preoperative chemotherapy for colorectal cancer liver metastasis (CLM).We retrospectively evaluated 2 groups of patients between January 2006 and August 2012. A total of 53 patients who had ≥3 hepatic metastases underwent resection after preoperative chemotherapy (preoperative chemotherapy group), whereas 96 patients who had ≥3 hepatic met...
متن کاملResection for Colorectal Liver Metastases
Colorectal cancer is the third most frequent cancer in the Western world. About half of the patients develop synchronous or metachronous metastases. The liver is the most common site of such metastases and thus hepatic metastatic disease is a significant socio-medical problem. If it is not treated, the median patient survival is only some months. Surgical resection is the treatment of choice fo...
متن کاملLiver resection for colorectal metastases.
PURPOSE More than 50,000 patients in the United States will present each year with liver metastases from colorectal cancers. The current study was performed to determine if liver resection for colorectal metastases is safe and effective and to evaluate predictors of outcome. MATERIALS AND METHODS Data for 456 consecutive resections performed between July 1985 and December 1991 in a tertiary r...
متن کاملEfficacy of laparoscopic liver resection in colorectal liver metastases and the influence of preoperative chemotherapy
BACKGROUND Since 1993, we have performed minimally invasive laparoscopic liver resection (LLR) to treat malignant liver cancer, including colorectal liver metastases (CLM). However, further studies are needed to accumulate sufficient evidence on the oncological outcome of LLR for CLM. METHODS To elucidate the efficacy of LLR for CLM, this study comparatively analyzed the invasiveness and shor...
